The RSPB's Garden Bird Watch

This week we are taking part in the RSPB's The Big Garden Bird Watch. Today we made bird feeders using recycled bottle and pots, fat balls and garden twine. The children used building tools to mash the bird feed and then scooped it into their containers before choosing a branch to hang the feeder on.

We then listened and observed birds that were nearby. The children used the garden birds identification sheet to talk about birds they knew. They also worked together to match pairs of birds.

We saw blackbirds, pigeons, seagulls and sparrows.
