This week in Pre-School 27.3.23

Updated: Apr 13, 2023

We can't believe it's the last week of term already!

This week we will learn about the first Easter by reading The First Easter story. We will also continue to learn about Spring through themed invitations to play as well as reading non-fiction texts. To finish our learning about new life and Spring time, the children will plant a sunflower seed to bring home this week along with a cross they have decorated to remember the First Easter story. The children enjoy looking after plants and vegetables we are growing in Pre-School and we are sure they will take great care of their growing sunflower at home. We would love to see photographs of your child's sunflower as it starts to grow so please do send them in.

In Phonics this week we will be focussing on oral blending and segmenting of CVC words such as c-a-t. We will play games that encourage the children to listen to 3 sounds and then help them to blend them together to identify the word. We will also ask the children to listen carefully to the sounds in CVC words and support them to hear each individual sound (segmenting).

In Maths this week we will be using our counting and subitising skills to explore number problems. We will make marks to represent amounts and we will explore one more and one less through our practical play activities.

We loved learning some Spring Makaton last week and will continue to embedded these signs this week.

Last week, we started learning the song, Spring Chicken. We all loved it and the children can be heard singing it throughout the day! This week we will continue to sing the song and will also add in some actions.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Pre-School Team 🙂
